The Treachery
If you remember how much easier it is to remember what you would rather forget than remember, than remember what you would rather remember than forget, then you can’t forget how much easier it is to forget what you would rather remember than forget, than forget what you would rather forget than remember.
– Elmira Gazette, quoted in New York Times, Feb. 13, 1891
I have been procrastinating a lot lately and i have to admit, Today’s songs are long overdue. Both songs are similar to songs in John Lennon’s Plastic Ono Band album with regards to the pure intimacy between the artist and listener.
Cecile has once again transformed an indie song into an epic abyss of pure emotion. Like the subconscious, White Sky isn’t afraid to be many things at once. Different sounds fade in and out. A tropical melody transform into dark and mysterious yearnings without any warnings.
Caribou’s very intimate and fragile “Jamelia” is also his hidden magnus opus in his latest album “Swim”. Jamelia sounds like melancholic panic attacks within subconscious of a hopeless romantic.

Just be
You’re only as young as the last time you changed your mind.

Listening Cecile Remix of Tiger feels like staring into a fractal. The more you gaze into it, the more you see yet the less you know. It is too irregular to be easily described in traditional music jargon. Therefore I’m not even going to try. In my own language I want to call this newly emerging genre Kaleidoscope dance. This song uses the same formula as Caribou’s Odessa, a deep steady melody echoing with nonchalant vocals.

Van Hai remix from one of our favorite deep house producers, Ripperton. Lyrics are a bit morbid though. Remember the Skilift?

Norwegian producer Prins Thomas’ music has been called “space disco”. This is not true about Your Sweet Love. This one is more of a folk-sy indie rock rhapsody.
