I’ve been obsessively listening to Kill for Love in which lethargic vocals ache with implicit longing, textures fade in and out coloring a film noir-esque landscape and gritty drumming taints your heart. On the bonus side, we have James Blake with two new tracks performed live. His new album will be out in a couple of days, so here is a sneak peek of what to expect.
More updates coming soon.

Come, come, whoever you are.
Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving.
It doesn’t matter.
Ours is not a caravan of despair.
come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times.
Come, yet again , come , come.

Metronomy is back with their 3rd album, The English Riviera. The album is more mature and professionally produced than their previous album, Nights Out. Joseph Mount has had a boost of self-confidence both with lyrical content and overall usage of the vocals. Concepts of Nights Out have matured into more expressive tracks, pushing Metronomy’s overall sound into a cross breed of indie rock and electronica. Even though it breaks my heart to see Metronomy drift away from usage of quirky synths and dissonant chords, they’ve managed to do so without losing their avant-garde indie sound.

There’s something philosophically profound about Sabali. Miike Snow remix of the Malian Afro-Blues duo Amadou & Mariam pours warmth and hope into my heart whenever I listen to it. Even though the remix doesn’t differ much from the original, it manages to augment the overall joyousness of the tune with echoey vocals and soft synth arpeggios. The second bonus of the day, Je pense à toi on the other hand is a poignant love cry, the most common theme in any form of art: a solid declaration of love.

DRESSCODE, a duo from Reims, France, have transformed Family of the Year’s folksy blend of electro-pop into a tribal journey narrated by hi-hats, cowbells and chopped-up vocals; It is an unpretentious remix that speaks for itself. Taking account all the s*** I receive everyday, they definitely deserve some myspace love. Bonne dégustation.

If you remember how much easier it is to remember what you would rather forget than remember, than remember what you would rather remember than forget, then you can’t forget how much easier it is to forget what you would rather remember than forget, than forget what you would rather forget than remember.
– Elmira Gazette, quoted in New York Times, Feb. 13, 1891
I have been procrastinating a lot lately and i have to admit, Today’s songs are long overdue. Both songs are similar to songs in John Lennon’s Plastic Ono Band album with regards to the pure intimacy between the artist and listener.
Cecile has once again transformed an indie song into an epic abyss of pure emotion. Like the subconscious, White Sky isn’t afraid to be many things at once. Different sounds fade in and out. A tropical melody transform into dark and mysterious yearnings without any warnings.
Caribou’s very intimate and fragile “Jamelia” is also his hidden magnus opus in his latest album “Swim”. Jamelia sounds like melancholic panic attacks within subconscious of a hopeless romantic.

More kaleidoscopic dance from Caribou. Along with Four Tet’s “There is Love in You”, Caribou’s latest album Swim is one of the most exciting things going on in the electronica scene. Sun basically consists of repetitive vocals that sit on top of psychedelic stresses and releases. Simple and effective.
Late of the Pier is a post-punk electronic band from UK. Their musical style lies somewhere in between Klaxons and Metronomy. They are being produced by Erol Alkan so no wonder Mr.Alkan has been occasionally dropping both the original and the Soulwax remix of “Best in the Class” in his sets.
